Support

Need a hand with Markdown Loft? Most answers are below. If you are still stuck, email support@lokotechnologies.ca and we will help.

Getting started

  • Open a file or folder from the sidebar or File → Open. Markdown Loft previews .md and .markdown files with clean typography, tables, task lists, and syntax-highlighted code.
  • Live preview refreshes on its own whenever the open file changes on disk, so edits you make in another app appear right away.
  • Switch themes: the app follows your system light/dark setting automatically.
  • Find in the document with ⌘F; adjust the preview font and size from the toolbar.

Free vs. Pro

Markdown Loft is a complete Markdown previewer for free: open, browse, and read as much as you like, with no account and no nagging.

Pro is a single one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks:

  • A live editor with split and editor-only views
  • A formatting toolbar (headings, bold, lists, links, tables, and more)
  • Export to PDF and HTML
  • Code-block color themes

Buying and restoring Pro

  • To unlock Pro: click any Pro action (edit, export, or change a code theme), or use the in-app upgrade prompt, then complete the purchase through the App Store.
  • To restore a purchase on a new Mac or after reinstalling: use Restore Purchase in the unlock sheet, or the app menu → Restore Purchase…. Pro is tied to your Apple ID, so it restores on any Mac you sign in to.
  • Purchase problems or refunds:purchases are processed by Apple. For billing issues or refund requests, use Apple's Report a Problem page. We are happy to help troubleshoot the unlock itself.

Common questions

Which files are supported?

.md and .markdown. The preview supports GitHub-flavored essentials: tables, task lists, and fenced code blocks with syntax highlighting.

Does the preview update if I edit the file in another app?

Yes. Markdown Loft watches the open file and refreshes the preview automatically when it changes on disk, so there is no need to close and reopen it.

Where are my files stored?

Entirely on your Mac. Markdown Loft collects no data and never uploads your documents. See our Privacy Policy.

My exported PDF or HTML looks different from the preview.

Export is styled to match the app's rendered output. If something looks off, email us a small sample and we will take a look.

A remote image in my document will not load.

The app fetches images referenced by URL in your Markdown, just like a browser, so check the link and your connection.
